If you have an entire TV show on your hard drive, it may take some time to rename all the video files. Their name format is rarely satisfying and they could mislead you, when looking for a specific episode. With FileBot, you can rename huge amounts of files. Once you select your episodes, the software can search for the appropriate names on the Internet and use them as templates to rename the files as fast as possible.

The application is free and it can be downloaded fast, with a modern day Internet connection. To install it, you must go through a standard procedure, which involves selecting a destination path, a Start menu folder and so on. You can also run FileBot via Java Web Start, on the developer's web site, without downloading or installing anything on your computer.

FileBot's interface is divided into multiple sections, where you can perform different tasks. The software makes it very easy to rename files, regardless of their format. The Rename section consists of two columns, for new names and your original files. Once you load your movies or episodes, in the appropriate column, you may hit the Match button, located between the columns, to match your files with episode information, from different online databases. FileBot lets you choose various databases, like TVRange, AniDB, IMDB and others.

The software will match your files, regardless of their original names. Even if the episodes are named only with numbers, FileBot will find the corresponding series and episode names. Before renaming your files, you may bring up a format editor and define a specific name format, by using various expressions. When everything is in order, you just need to click a button and the application will rename your files immediately.

It is also possible to match files to a list of names, in plain text format. Instead of typing the names yourself, you can use the software's functions to generate a list. If you perform an online search, you can find all episodes from a series and save the list on your hard drive. Alternatively, you can type a file name pattern and generate a list.

FileBot can find subtitles as well. You can either perform a traditional search or drag and drop your episodes over an icon, on the program's interface, for accurate results. Additionally, you may check the integrity of your files and view their SFV, MD5 or SHA-1 value.

Pros

You can define patterns, to rename any number of files. The software can match TV show episodes to names from online databases and rename the files immediately. FileBot can also be used to find subtitles, check the integrity of your files and more.

Cons

You will not encounter any serious drawbacks. FileBot's smart and flexible features enable you to rename entire TV shows in a matter of seconds.
